The Pioneers of Austin’s Technology Revolution is a community oral history project. The project’s historical focus is on the people that launched Austin’s technology industry and identity, and the dramatic economic impact of technology on growing and driving Austin’s economy.  The successful bid by Austin to land the Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation in 1983 is a focal point. MCC was a consortium of leading electronics and computer companies founded to share resources and produce new technologies for its member companies and aid the U.S. defense industry. The purpose of the Pioneers project is to visit with iconic folks, gain their historical reflection of the movement, and bring renewed focus on Austin’s tech revolution.
